Practice writing daily to build confidence fluency of students as writers, and affirm their authentic voice through Puente writing familias and the portfolio process;

Encourage a love of reading and strengthens critical literacy practices through multicultural literature;

Leverage a variety of multi modal strategies, inquiry, and collaboration to work with a heterogenous group of students; 

Create a classroom community that promotes academic values and a desire to attend college;
